The Carrel Glacier is a glacier in the Te Tai Poutini / West Coast region of the Te Waipounamu / South Island of Aotearoa New Zealand.

It has a latitude of -43.453611 and a longitude of  170.205028 and it’s status is: Unofficial Recorded.

The NZGBs archives record, ‘Harper states in his “Memories of Mountains and Men” p. 102 “As to other names, I suggested to Douglas that we give names to commemorate Swiss guides, to which he agreed. Hence the names…Carrel..” Jean Antoine Carrel – one of the most famous guides. He came from Val Tournanche on the Italian side of the Alps. He made the second ascent of the Matterhorn and accompanied Whymper to South America.’
