Since the early 1900s, glaciers around the globe have been melting rapidly, and the same can be said for those in Aotearoa New Zealand.
Based on scientific studies over the past 50 years, human activities are the most likely causes of this global geographical phenomenon.
Since the inception of the industrial revolution, greenhouse gas emissions (especially carbon dioxide) have raised temperatures within our biosphere, andthis has caused our beautiful glaciers to melt.
With no sign of stopping, this project has been set up to monitor and document the list of glaciers that are active across Aotearoa New Zealand.
The data is slowly being populated and not quite finished yet (but it is faster than glacial speed), so bear with me as I get all the info for every glacier online. You can read more about the project or explore all of New Zealand’s glaciers.
