The Shanks Glacier is a glacier in the Waitaha / Canterbury region of the Te Waipounamu / South Island of Aotearoa New Zealand.

It has a latitude of -43.323417 and a longitude of  170.812194 and it’s status is: Unofficial Recorded.

Probably named for Charles Barnes Shanks who arrived as a surveyor in 1857, serving in the Dunedin Survey office, then in Christchurch, retiring by 1910 and moving to England.
