The Serpent Glacier is a glacier in the Te Tai Poutini / West Coast region of the Te Waipounamu / South Island of Aotearoa New Zealand.

It has a latitude of -43.328468 and a longitude of  170.628385 and it’s status is: Official Assigned.

Name submitted by the Canterbury Chief Surveyor, September 1969, after research in connection with the revision of NZMS1 S72. Originally submitted by NZ Geological Survey in March 1962, and resubmitted by Alwyn Chin in June 1963, the name was disallowed on both occasions, as a minor feature. It was mentioned in many articles in the Canterbury Mountaineer, also mentioned by J D Pascoe in “The Southern Alps”. Origin and meaning unknown.

It’s geographical description is noted as: Small glacier just east of Little Unknown, flowing southward toward the Perth River, from the western end of the Garden of Eden Ice Plateau.  Blocks II and VI Tyndall Survey District.
