The Scabbard Glacier is a glacier in the Waitaha / Canterbury region of the Te Waipounamu / South Island of Aotearoa New Zealand.

It has a latitude of -43.393689 and a longitude of  170.654291 and it’s status is: Official Assigned.

Name submitted by the Canterbury Chief Surveyor, September 1969, after research in connection with the revision of NZMS1 S72. Name taken from Canterbury Mountaineering Club Map journals and maps. Mentioned in Canterbury Mountaineer 28 p 133. Origin unknown, but scabbard fits in with Sword Peak above it.

It’s geographical description is noted as: Glacier South of and below Sword Peak on main divide, flowing southward into Eric Stream.  Block I Torlesse Survey District.
