The Cockayne Glacier is a glacier in the Waitaha / Canterbury region of the Te Waipounamu / South Island of Aotearoa New Zealand.

It has a latitude of -43.289425 and a longitude of  170.863814 and it’s status is: Official Assigned.

The name was in common use when submitted by RW Willett, Director of the New Zealand Geological Survey in March 1962, to assist in the compilation of a catalogue of New Zealand glaciers.

Presumably named after the famous New Zealand botanist Dr L Cockayne.

It’s geographical description is noted as: Tributary of Lyell Glacier from south of Mount Ramsay, flowing between Mount Kinkel and Blair Peak. Ramsay Survey District..
