Named after Abel Janszoon Tasman, correcting the spelling of his first names. Corrigendum 30/09/1982 No. 115 p. 3195: name change from Abel Janzsoon Glazier to Abel Janzsoon Glacier. Corrigendum 24/02/1983 No. 23 p. 481: name change from Abel Janzsoon to Abel Janszoon

It’s geographical description is noted as: Glacier on north side of Mount Tasman.
